On 25 April, the IHK Mittleres Ruhrgebiet invited representatives of regional industry and other interested parties to exchange strategies for securing skilled workers. The Chair of Work, Human Resources and Leadership contributed to this successful event in many ways. Prof. Dr. Uta Wilkens set the mood with the lecture “Shortage of skilled workers in industry – stocktaking and coping strategies” in the foyer of the IHK. Prof. Dr. Uta Wilkens set the mood with the lecture “Shortage of skilled workers in industry – stocktaking and coping strategies” in the foyer of the IHK. In addition to a workshop on the integration of foreign skilled workers led by Andrea Koch (IHK), the topics of lateral entry (Dr. Saskia Hohagen) and human-centred technology development (Dr. Valentin Langholf) could be explored in greater depth as starting points for securing skilled workers. The workshops were then offered again, with a change in the line-up, before the results were collected in a large round and the event came to a sociable close. We thank the IHK Mittleres Ruhrgebiet for the opportunity to cooperate.
