From 4 to 6 July 2024, the 40th Colloquium of the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) took place in Milan under the motto “Crossroads for Organizations: Time, Space, and People”. The IAW was represented on site by Uta Wilkens, Valentin Langholf and Daniel Lupp.

In the sub-theme “(Ir-)Responsible Use of Technologies and the Future of Work: Managerial and Organizational Dilemmas”, the authors Lupp, Wilkens and Langholf presented their paper “Responsible AI in the C-level suites – Scenarios of AI decision-making and corresponding ethical approaches”. The qualitative interview study on the decision-making behaviour of C-level managers in the responsible use of artificial intelligence in organizations was discussed constructively in the joint plenary session. Thanks to the interdisciplinary composition of the colloquium, helpful suggestions for the further development of the contribution could be taken away.

The participants were also able to establish valuable connections for future collaboration with the human-centered AI network HUMAINE. Overall, we can look back on a successful conference and are already looking forward to participating next year.
